With less than two weeks before our Skylab: Mission Blackout launch, it is time for the second phase of your specialized astronaut training. If you haven't already, make sure you complete Skylab: Astronaut Training Part 1 before you continue below.
We need your assistance in documenting our mission! Create a mission log by tracking your journey through Instagram. Start now by uploading photos of your Skylab ticket, costume, and artists you are excited to see. As the adventure draws closer, snap photos of what you are doing to prepare for launch. Upload photos of your drive to the launch pad, your crew, new cadets you meet, and memorable things your encounter throughout the mission. Use the hashtag #Skylab so fellow astronauts can see your photos. Don't forget to follow us on Instagram @GlobalDanceUS to track our mission log.
Additionally, enter our Instagram contest for your chance to win a pair of tickets to Skylab: Mission Blackout. The contest closes Thursday. Details here.
In order to prepare for Mission Blackout, you must be outfitted with the proper flight suit. You do not need to comply with a specific uniform, you can wear whatever you would like, but we encourage you to be a part of the mission and come decked out in your best cosmic costume! You can create a creature that would exist in the blackout, come dressed as an alien or astronaut that is exploring the blackout, dress up as your favorite nocturnal animal, wear an outfit that will react with the backlights that will flood Skylab, or whatever else you can think of! Make sure you document your outfit on your Instagram mission log!
To aid you in planning your costume, we have provided you with a list of official Skylab costume providers.
This year, astronauts who truly embrace the darkness will be rewarded in our costume contest. Details on the costume contest.
Before blasting off, it is very important to watch the launch protocol so you have an idea of what to expect when we go into orbit.
